چکیده

Thymomas are the most common primary tumours of the anterior mediastinum in adults, and are composed of a mixture of lymphocytes and epithelial cells in varying proportions, with scattered cystic regions of various size seen in 40% of thymomas pathologically (1). However, those that resulted in almost complete cystic transformation have been reported rarely (24). The present case report describes a patient with cystic thymoma that was evaluated pre-operatively by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT).

Correlative Imaging in a Patient with Cystic Thymoma: CT, MR and PET/CT Comparison

BACKGROUND Cystic thymoma is a rare variant of thymic neoplasm characterized by almost complete cystic degeneration with mixed internal structure. We describe a case of a 60 year-old woman with a cystic thymoma studied with advanced tomographic imaging stydies. CT, MRI and PET/CT with (18)F-FDG were performed; volumetric CT and MRI images provided better anatomic evaluation for pre-operative as...

Outcome of Cystic Fibrosis in Patients with Bronchiectasis

Introduction: Bronchiectasis is a common problem in children especially under 5 years. Early diagnosis of disease and its causes could be useful in early treatment and preventing probable complications. This study aimed at evaluating the cystic fibrosis (CF) in patients with  bronchiectasis. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 374 children with bronchiectasis were studied. The diagnosis was ma...

Cystic pancreatic lesions: a simple imaging-based classification system for guiding management.

Cystic lesions of the pancreas are increasingly being recognized due to the widespread use of cross-sectional imaging. The initial evaluation of a pancreatic cyst should be directed toward exclusion of a pseudocyst. Patients with pseudocysts generally have a history of acute or chronic pancreatitis, whereas those with cystic tumors most often lack such a history. Several types of cystic lesions...

Management of Incidental Pancreatic Cystic Lesions

BACKGROUND Pancreatic cystic lesions (PCL) are common. They are increasingly detected as an incidental finding of transabdominal ultrasound or cross-sectional imaging. In contrast to other parenchymal organs, dysontogenetic pancreatic cysts are extremely rare. In symptomatic patients the most frequent PCL are acute and chronic pseudocysts. The majority of incidental cystic lesions, however, are...

Pancreas ductal adenocarcinoma with cystic features on cross-sectional imaging: radiologic-pathologic correlation.

Most pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAs) show solid growth pattern, but ductal adenocarcinomas may demonstrate intratumoral cystic appearance or accompany peritumoral non-neoplastic cystic lesions, thus mimicking cystic pancreatic tumors on imaging studies. The histopathologic findings for PDA with cystic feature are divided into neoplastic and non-neoplastic cysts. Neoplastic cystic chang...
